So been planning for a while to do Mossy's for my next frog. probably won't happen for a while....depending on things. but i wanted to ask a question.
Have any of you owners had problems maintaining the population?? My mom heard a guys experience that he used to sell Mossy's and breed and sell them. well he said they breed like rabbits. he couldn't keep up. i was wanting to get a male and female if i got some is it true that they breed like crazy?? i thought you had to do like with red eyes make a tank for them to breed or will they breed if they want???
Once they're established they will sort of breed like dart frogs, which is to say, on and off throughout the year. You don't have to pull the tadpoles, just let them fend for themselves in the parent tank. I wouldn't worry too much about it though. The sex ratios in captive populations are really skewed right now, so you'd probably need a group to get any breeding. Either way, I wouldn't worry too much. But no, they don't need any special setup or cycling to encourage breeding.

I am glad you commented Alex! I have read that Mossy's where hit or miss on breeding and that no one really had a tried and true method for breeding.
So what sex is the captive populations leaning towards? Makes me wonder if the species has temerature determined sex of the offspring.
i just want two-four so i wanted to know if it would be a problem because i dont want to breed them. so was tying to see if anyone else had that problem where they kept breeding whether they wanted em to or not, just to see if i should get just one or some of same gender....
thanks Alex.
