hedgehogs are cool but like most mamals require alot more care and handling. when we had one it took it awhile to stop balling up and tensing to poke us. they are nocturnal. they poop alot and smell, not only that but the mucus they put on their quils may irritate and sting for half to an hour if they poke you. so i go with pacman lol.

Jerome I'm afraid that you are overhelming yourself with more responcibility than you can handle. I feel it would be best for you to wait a while before you even think of getting another pet. In the end you may risk making your pets suffer and you don't want that.

I wish cats were viable feeders for my pyxie. That'd be two birds...er..cats with one stone. Frog gets fed, and no stray cats!

Knowing when you are at your limit and desiding to wait shows responcibility. When you are capable of handling more pets then deside what you want. Keep in mind that neither of these animals are outside pets.

I'm quoting this because it's worth reading again.

Get the care of the pets you have under tight control first before going out and taking on new charges. This includes fish and insects. You have an entire lifetime to experience a wide range of pets, there's no need to rush things.

I have both fish and insects, and they aren't any easier to care for than a frog or hedgehog. Keeping a fish's water clean, balancing the chemicals, and watching for any health issues is a LOT of work. Just because they aren't as interactive as other pets doesn't mean they don't deserve the same level of care.

If you don't have time for a frog or hedgehog, you don't have time to care for fish or insects.
