Question about using foam.

Im doing a 220 build and have been reading about people using the Great Stuff Gaps and Cracks foam.

We want to make the back of tank glass look like a rock wall.

I see that people use egg crate for the foaming, Im assuming to make sure it has something to grab on to or can I just apply to the glass?

All the wall we want to cover will be above water line, but will have a Monsoon rs400 misting system in it so it will get wet.

What are the product names that I can use to paint the foam to make it look like rock?

yes, you can apply it directly to the glass. i apply silicone to the glass first and let it cure, then apply the GS. i have also siliconed egg crate to the glass and applied the gs on top. they all work and i have yet to see any advantage to any of them.

I am also wanting to color the GS foam, I see you mentioned titebond 3 as its waterproof etc. Ive read somewheres, maybe on one of your threads about using peat moss and mixing it into the titebond as well as water. Whats the mixture measurments to that? How long does it take to cure? That part will be over land but will get hit with the Monsoon.

i don't really have a mixture, per se, i just mix it up until it's a nice slurry. then i paint it on. it normally takes a couple coats. downside is it can take up to a week for the titebond to dry fully. on the last coat, i sprinkle my covering on and press it into the fresh titebond, but that is just to get the "fuzzy" look. the titebond will be 100% waterproof when it dries.
