    Default Hej!

My name's Lina and I would like to introduce myself and my African Bullfrog Karybdis which I got a couple of days ago. According to the guy in the pet shop it's about three months old. It's 5-6 cm long and so far pretty shy. I don't know if it's a female or male, guess it's still too young to be sexed. Yesterday it ate two crickets and I got impressed by its speed when catching them. This is my first frog so I'm trying to learn as much as possible to be able to give it a jolly good life. Here's a photo of Karybdis. S/he picked the wallpaper her-/himself and seems very pleased with it.

Thank you Lija, it seems to be a very nice forum! Thanks also for the comment on the substrate. The guy in the pet shop recommended this and I knew that it's good to use coconut for them since they can digest that. But I got rather surprised when I put it into the water to swell because there were so big chunks in it. I was worried that it might be harmful for my frog to swallow them, causing impaction. Now I understand there are different types of substrates based on coconut... Thank you! I will buy a proper one today and change. A bit annoyed that the guy in the pet shop recommended this to me. They call themselves experts on reptiles and amphibians...

that it might be harmful for my frog to swallow them, causing impaction.

    Hi there and welcome!

Always nice to see another swede on the forum!
Your bullfrog is very cute. I've got a dwarf female myself and see's a blast to keep. I hope you're gonna enjoy yours just as much.

Pretty unique name you gave your frog, sounds like something out of a fantasy novel?

Anyway, hope you enjoy your stay here and I'll see you around the forum!

Welcome to the forum! I'm fairly new myself. If I could give you one bit of advice, it's "read". You are going to find a wealth of information in these forums. I spend hours cruising links on topics (when you search a topic and read a thread, at the bottom if other threads are tagged similarly they are listed. You can investigate topics for hours here... literally). I feel way better prepared for frog husbandry because of the amount of reading I did.
