Well I am up late, again. I was doing a search for water crystals and came across this site.
Watersorb water absorbing polymer prices
I read through the pages, read some about the cool ties and then I went to the pricing.
It wasn't the prices per say but the options that caught my eye. I have never seen size options for water crystals.
I don't know if the size of them will make any difference but for certain applications I can see the different sizes being useful.
This may turn out to not be very useful to most but I had to share just in case.
The prices aren't bad either.
your best bet is to go to home depot their water crystals are cheaper then anywhere i have seen but they are the smaller ones which i don't think make a difference I will send you enough to last you a year if you need.
2 lbs will last you two years with 100,000 roaches. maybe longer.
I found out more information. The dust is NOT recommended for watering feeders. All other sizes are safe for providing drinking water to feeders. Also, any size crystal can be cut up and reduced in size. The expert said it would be easier to cut them up while hydrated instead of trying to crush them while dry. But with the option of ordering the different sizes it may not even matter to most. With my limited experience I would think the large ones would work perfect because they get bigger and more can fit in a smaller lid without small pieces falling out everywhere.
Just gives options for people who like them and might want different sizes. Only reason I would order from them would be to get enough to do some serious gardening. A couple months away and I am not sure I am ready to get that involved with my gardening this year.
Repashy makes this product that is very five. However I have not ,personally, seen re-hydrated.

And - it does come in different sizes.

See, that's why I post things I find. Someone always has another way. I love having options and being able to find things when I want them when one source doesn't pan out at the moment.
I do wish I could find larger ones than 2-4mm. Being able to put 3-4 crystals in a colony and have plenty would be nice and harder for the feeders to drag anything off.
I did find out that the ones I listed are made in the USA. I don't know where any of the others are made because I can't find that info for some reason on any other company. Anyone that has that info if you would please share I would appreciate it as other may also.
Sometimes there are just those certain things that I can not seem to articulate to search engines.
I use this brand Soil Moist™ - Lee Valley Tools
Much more expensive than your link by weight. One packet hydrates to roughly the size of one of those fake store bought ready made cake icing containers, I guess 400mL or so?
I measured a hydrated crystal and it was about 8x10x14mm. They claim to be made in the USA. They are available at Lee Valley in Canada and the USA, and I've seen them in other stores (Lee Valley also does mail order)
Dang if you use them for plants which is the water crystals intended purpose then its a win win my friend. I just think it is a joke how expensive online feeder stores sell them for. I got a 1 lb bag for less then what the roach guys sells 2 oz for. And you just found them for cheaper then what i got them for. These things have many uses and they retain water for years. literally.
