Possibly. You use paper towel substrate right? Or is this in one of the dart tanks?

Yes, This little resin dish is in the leuc enclosure. They love it ! Maybe they take the water with them ?

The tree frogs have fabric substrate- not paper towel. I use paper in the quarantine tanks.
The tree frog's soaking dishes are ceramic.

sorry.....i forgot you used fabric in the tree frogs enclosures. i just took a look at it. tough to find the water bowl, but i think the frogs are taking it with them Lynn. you don't have any materials close enough to wick the moisture away. btw, that tank is growing in beautifully!!!

Thanks for the replies. Hmm... so would epoxy definitely be safe to use? If I just coat the inside of the dish, I wouldn't expect shininess to be an issue, right?

Epoxy would be safe, but it's the sand on the rim that is wicking up the moisture. You would have to epoxy the top, down to below the waterline. Then the rim would be shiny, counter productive. How bad is it wicking up the moisture? Is it creating problems within the enclosure, or you just don't like the aesthetics?

actually, i would like to correct myself there. yes, you are correct, provided you don't fill the water as high as the epoxy

Right, I would fill it to just under the high point of the epoxy. Right now its pulling water out quite a bit. If filled completely, it'll be almost gone by the end of the day. It's not really a huge issue, but I have some live desert plants in there that I think are probably getting too much water because of it, plus I have to refill it often.
