I'm researching for my first Pacman terrarium. I plan on using:
10 gallon tank
Coco fiber substrate 2-3 inches
Water bowl with a rocks for easy exit
Artificial plants for shade and aesthetics
6X8 or 8X10 UTH/Tstat placed underneath to one side
This will be in a 68-74 degree bedroom.
After reading many care guides I'm planning to set the tstat at 85-90 so the heat will dissipate through the wet coco fiber and create good humidity. To help keep that heat/humidity in I want to use a flat glass aquarium top with a hinged door and either a slit cut into it or some holes drilled for air exchange. To help heat the air inside during the day I want to try to attach a small fluorescent light fixture (8"-12") on the inside of the glass lid. I'm trying to avoid another heating lamp in my bedroom since I already have 2 of them above Ball Python terrarium. Any opinions/suggestions are welcome. Thanks.
