Fish with juvenile bullfrogs?

Now, recently, I've been finding a few drowned crickets in my tank, some of which I don't exactly want to grab, and of course, lots of bio-waste, though almost all of it is sucked up by the filter. But the filter doesn't reach some parts of the tank, so I was wondering: Could I keep fish or small shrimp in my tank with the juvenile bullfrogs? Perhaps a few feeder goldfish? Gnag is big enough to eat some, so she might go for 'em, which could be a bit of a treat for her. Or some Rosy Red Minnows? My friend [The one who will adopt Bumpy when she is too big, and is getting the 3 Green Tree frogs as you can see in this post: http://www.frogforum.net/tree-frogs/...re-sheet.html] is breeding them for his captive Black Crappie [As food]. But I need something that would either eat drowned crickets, or clean up after the frogs, the first of which would be better. If possible, a fish that looks similar to a trout, salmon, or Black crappie? I'd rather keep the size down to under 2 1/2 inches long. So, any suggestions? I need to know before tomorrow, because that's when I'm picking up the fish.

Yes, you can house fish with your bullfrog so long as they are not poisonous or spiny. Goldfish are not recommended because they tend to carry parasites. Guppies and minnows are fine so long as you know they are coming from a clean, parasite-free seller.

Ghost shrimp I'm not sure about. My Colombian shark catfish used to love eating the ghost shrimps, but I don't know if they're safe for frogs. Because of the small gravel on the bottom of my tank, I wouldn't try it myself, so I never had reason to research it. Hopefully someone will answer that question for you that knows for sure.

I'll try guppies, then. Hopefully, they can help clean up the tank a bit every now and again. It'll be really neat because it'll be a whole ecosystem in itself, the frogs, of course, being at the top of the food chain.

Yeah, my sister has a ghost shrimp in with her goldfish. From what I can see, they appear to have tough exoskeletons, and that might not be good for digestion. They're also very small, so they'd have to go as cleaners and only cleaners, though they do do a good job at cleaning. I might try red shrimp, I think they're bigger.

I decided, instead, to get a 2.5 inch goldfish [Too big for Gnag to eat, I don't want parasites to be spread] and placed it in their tank. I've added the Venturi outlet to the filter to aerate the water, and I've added more water so the fish can swim around a tad more freely. I'm hoping the fish doesn't die, many often do due to the dramatic changes in water. Well, we'll find out in the next couple of days. If it lives, it should help clean the tank, hopefully. I've already got goldfish food in stock. Anyways, do you think 1 goldfish is good enough, or should I get smaller fish or shrimp to help clean out the tank more? My friend can get me 5 Ghost Shrimp really cheap.

I'm not a big fan of goldfish really because they tend to be prone to parasites. I wouldn't get more than one.

I think the ghost shrimp are fine so long as the frogs don't accidentally eat rocks if they dive after the shrimp. Rocks cause impaction.

Agreed, one is fine. I think it's scaring the frogs, too, so that's worrying, and the whole parasite thing is a big concern as well, considering how dangerous dropsy is, though I don't think that is spread by parasites. The frogs haven't been out and swimming since I introduced it into the tank, or at least, not as early as is usual. Either that or I've not been staying up late enough. One worrying factor is that these goldfish do come from a store that sells African Dwarf Frogs, which I know for a fact do spread Chytrid.... or was it African Clawed Frogs? Either way, caution is what I'm taking.

I doubt they'll eat the ghost shrimp, the shrimp are tiny, and hard to see if they're hidden. I was a bit concerned about the shrimp attacking the frogs, but I suppose that's just paranoia, since their pincers are TINY

Impaction, I've heard of it. It's similar as to why wool and string should be kept away from cats? It'll mess with their small and large intestines and such?
