Yet another safety question for you guys, if using g hot glue to attach things together how long should I let them sit out before you lacing them into the tank? Or is it safe as soon as it cools and becomes hard again?

I believe as soon as the hot glue cools it's safe.
I really just wanted to comment on how close I live to you...I am from Ithaca.

Thanks guys! It doesn't need to be that strong, I just want something easy to use the sets up quick to make a small cave structure kinda thing out of smaller river rocks. I have some ge silicone 2 for any parts that need reinforcing.
And Yayy for ithaca lol. Any places around here you recommend for frogs? I'm not entirely fond of either of the 2 shops in cortland. And the only ithaca shop I know of is the small one at the mall. I haven't checked out any of the shops around the elmyria area yet. I went to the Corning Reptile Show back in November but was quite disappointed by the lack of frogs there.

Your basic grocery store Walmart hot glue is not going to work for River rock. There are industrial strength hot glues out there that might. You might give drainage rock of some sort a try if you want to build a cave or other type of structure using hot glue. The surface is rough and the regular hot glue might hold better on it.
Just decide to give up on just working with what I had around and rethink what/how I want

Okay, do't give up on river rock yet. I was doing some research and found that if you want to take some time to rough up the river rock surface it can work. Lots of work to rough up a rock but I have done it in the past with a grinding stone and a drill.
You might want to try Hydroton, ceramic, clay or other fired rough media for making your caves and such with hot glue. And make sure to use hot melt glue, high temp glue and let it get good and hot so it will flow into the cracks and crevices to get a good bond.
Yeah I think I'm gonna go with baked sculpty for it and maybe go for more of a wood look than rock cave, im just gonna a grab a couple colors and play around with some ideas
