Bill, you are my hero! I have looking for moss and even tried the stinky buttermilk recipe to get it spreading, pew! I would love some if possible. I will pay you for the shipping and the moss.
this is an RAOK (random act of kindness) for fissidens fonatanus. it is a moss that grows aquatically, but it can also be grown marginally with a bit of planning, setup and work. it grows heavily in my 75G planted tank and i need to get rid or some. i am offering this first to my froggie friends, because as soon as i offer it to my planted tank folk, it will all be gone in minutes. i can do several packages, all depends on how much you need. all i ask is you pay for shipping ($6 for larger packages, $3 for small ones). i also have other marginal and aquatics that i may be able to offer. pm me with any questions. this will be shipped sat 1/19. anything that's not gone by that date, will be in my compost bin
here are some pics of the moss so you can get an idea of what it looks like grown submersed:
as you can see, it grows wildly in my tank
i should mention that fissidens fontanus is a moss that is native to the us. and some "strigy moss", also a native moss, may tag along for the ride. also, snails will most likely tag along, but they are aquatic and will not disturb any terrestrial items in your enclosure

Thanks so much!
I made it and spread it over nylon mesh to see if it would spread across it. I had it over a tote lid. Oh my goodness did it stink to high Heavens! Lol!
What is the best way to keep the moss growing happily? Share your secrets?

Is it too late to get in on the moss? I teach middle school science and we are setting up a 45g river tank and a 55g planted tank. Let me know.
Ryan
Not a problem ryan, just send me a pm and we'll put together a nice package. I am always willing to help out teachers who keep tanks in the classroom![]()
