It seems that one of my frogs is constipated. My frog doc is not available on the weekend so I am reaching out to you guys for help with a remedy. It has been a few days now and I am getting worried. Thanks in advance!
Hi
Sorry to have to welcome you to FF with a little problem.
Your will have to rig a container to soak the frog.
Soaking him in warm water may help.
Questions :
1. when is the last time the frog ate
2 what does the frog eat
3. when is the last time you saw poop --check the enclosure really well !
4. what substrate do you have in its enclosure
5. what size is the feeder insect
Soaking/treatment container for a Red Eyed Tree Frog:
Keep this container for treatments / if needed. ie soaking and soaking in medication
Your frog will NOT want to stay in the container after is stressed from being handled getting in the container in the first place.
So, the container has to have a lid ( will air holes), this container can't have high sides.
If it is too tall the frog will just climb on side therefore climbing right out of the water.
If the container is too tall you can add layers of paper towel.
The idea is to have the lid close to his head so his body stays in the shallow water, but the water is not over his chin.
Careful: be sure the water will not go over his head if he should fall back to sleep.
Here's mine ( I melted hole in the lid) make sure the little melted holes don't have sharp edges:

The depth of the water should NOT be above the frogs chin.
The water should be de-chlorinated .
The water needs to be nice and warmnot hot.
Handle the frog with wet -clean, rinsed hands ( or wet gloved hands -using powerless gloves )
Try to keep thinks as calm and as quiet as possible.
After you get the frog in the container ,cover it, put he container back into his enclosure which will help keep it warm.
If it is plain water- he can stay in it for at least 20 minutes ( you just don't want to let it get cold).
If you could answer those above it will help us !

In all due respect
For clarification purposes:
Don't soak your frog in honey.
A honey soak is : one or 2 drops in the warm de-chorinated water.
It will not hurt the frog.
But it is the warm water ,not the honey that will help it poop.
This is typically used for minor abrasions; whereby using the 'honey' for an antimicrobial agent .
A frog should be rinsed after a honey soak.
