It took all day, but I did it. Took a couple trips back and forth from different stores. I siliconed a shelf to the side of the tank. I've never siliconed anything in my life.
I decided against a sub floor, because I really wanted the look of the rocks. I bought a much larger soaking dish for them. Overall, I'm really happy with it. Let's hope Ernie n Bert will be!
I posted all the pics in an album on my profile, but here are a couple of my fave shots in case you don't want to go browse them there. One of the tank with just the red light on (oh, I got timers too so not only do I have an auto mister, but the lights go on and off on their own too!!), the bottom, and the pic of the frogs is from when they went into the holding tank. Not.Happy.
looks great, where did you get the shelf
My Bubba would love to have his hide up top.
It's a Zoo Med Turtle Dock (small). It comes with suction cups but it's meant for in water so it's not stable enough for the frogs, which is why I siliconed it. I debated siliconing the hide to the dock, but then thought in case of poo I had better leave it detachable.
Here it is on Amazon so you know what it looks like: Amazon.com: Zoo Med Turtle Dock for 10 Gallon Tanks, Small: Pet Supplies
Very nice Dee
Very wise.I debated siliconing the hide to the dock, but then thought in case of poo I had better leave it detachable.
I think I saw one at petsmart.
I think I will go a different route.
Since my setup is almost 100% and I don't want to displace Bubba while the silicone cures.
I think I will use a pair of neodymium magnets instead of suction cups or silicone.
This way if I need to move it for cleaning I can.
how ever I will put a small bead of silicone around the edge of the dock to keep water from
getting in between the glass and the dock.
My source of magnetics carry a lot of different shapes and sizes of magnets. https://www.kjmagnetics.com
and also different coatings so I think gold will be the best choice.
Thinking more about this I think I should put a thin coat of silicone on the magnet surface
that will be against the glass. These things are very strong and if they snap too hard against
the glass it might break the glass.
So has Bert found his hide or did you have to show him.
My first thought upon waking was to wonder how the vivarium held up over night. The froggie footie prints all over the glass and this pose (can't you almost see the 'sup' in it??) tell me that all was good thru the night. The plants are still firmly in the ground. The pond is full of dirt. Fun frog times had by all (or at least Ernie... Bert is sleeping up in the corner so I don't know if he moved).

Well, my INTENTION was to show him, but the thing is that I have not handled my frogs at all. So the transfer back into Froggieville was rather traumatic for my tweaker. I tried putting him up there, but he was clinging like a madfrog. I thought "this is stupid, he's a frog not a dog". Ya, I was doing the whole "no, over here. Look here. No here." Finally I just finagled him off my hand onto a leaf and left him to find it on his own.
looks good Dee!! you did a great job! ernie and bert will love their new decor, i am sure![]()
