Hello, I am looking in to getting a Pacman Frog. Before I do so, I wanted to talk to people that already have them. I've been doing tons of research on them. I've been getting some conflicting information. Mainly on temperature. Some places say they need to be heated, others say room temp is perfect. The reason for not heating them is even though they come from a warm climate, they spend most of their time burrowed in the cool ground. I'd also love any first hand knowledge you guys can share with me.

They do stay burrowed most of the time, but this doubles as how they thermoregulate and their strategy for hunting. They are an ambush predator(sit and wait predator)so they sit half burrowed and wait for prey to pass by so they can get the drop on it.

These frogs are nocturnal so they should be fed either early in the morning before the sun rises or after the sun goes down. They are tropical so they need tropical temps. 80° to 85° for adults during the day(80° to 82° for babies and juviniles) and 75° to 79° at night( hover around 78° at night though).

Humidity needs to be 75% to 80%, but can drop occationally to 65%, but not for extended periods.

Temps, diets & husbandry are SO debatable among keepers and breeders of this species.........always. But Coleen/Jerrod are absolutely spot on with their info. We live in deep South Texas and we fight the heat during the Spring/Summer & the cold in the short Winter.............It can be a battle to get your temps & humidity in line, but once you get it, it's second nature.
