Default Hi!! White lipped tree frog

    Hi all,
I'm new to frogs. I got white lipped tree frog for my son, but now I've fallen in love with the little thing. I've got a couple of questions. I've asked at our local pet stores, but I get different answers from different people so here goes:

    1. Temperature. We're keeping our frog between mid to high 70s F. Is that ok?
    2. We (ok...I) I would like to get a friend or two for our frog. How large of a set up do we need? One book I looked at said about 10 gal per frog. Pet store people say different things.
    3. Is a tall tank better than short and long?
    4. Is a heat lamp an ok source of heat or should we be using something else?

We've had our frog for about a month and he/she seems to be doing fine.

    Thanks much for your help.

    1. I would bring the temps up to the lower 80's. These frogs are found in New Guinea and Cape York, so I think a temperture range of 78 - 82F works well. You can drop it to about 70 at night, but no lower.
    2. Go with the book.
    3. Taller is always better.
    4. Heat lamps can be very drying. I keep most of my frogs in a warm room, but I do have some frogs in my living room where it is cooler. The rococo toad has a heaty pad on the side of the tank and that seems to work well.

For more care info see the White's treefrog care article, as the care is the same for both species.
