I have a 12x12x18 terrarium, which has a layer of coconut fiber at the bottom, but I don't think my little guys like it very much. They seem to be cleaning themselves a lot, trying to remove the fibers... What would you guys recommend instead of coconut fiber???
and I was thinking of doing lights, for heat and daytime... Is a hood better than the clamp lamps??
how high should I go with the watts??
Hi there
I see what you mean by the fibers irritating the frog's skin, the same usually happes to my FBTs and i use moss to cover the cocoa fibers, you can do the same by using moss or leaves on the grouns, Josh'sfrogs.com supplies all sorts of stuff for tree frogs and poison arrow frogs. for heating and lighting, i would use a 50waat for both heating and lighting, red eyes do like some dryness sometimes.
Good luck with your red eye!
So I have coco fiber in my RETF enclosure, but on top of it a put a nice layer of leaf litter. My RETFs seem to like it I see them on the leafs as much as up in the branches. Plus it help the coco to hold the moisture longer as well. This is what I use in my WTF tank as well, it also cuts down on the coco in the water as well. Helps keep the enclosure a little cleaner overall as well.
