Well, my fiance and I went to our favorite mom and pop pet store to pick up a few things for our new addition we are getting next week and low and behold they just got this beauty in.



It was owned by a 10 year old little girl whom had taken amazingly good care of her animals. She traded it for a hedgehog. Very active and what I believe is a female, she snapped at the gal at the pet store. "She" is about 3.5 across and a good eater. I did have to educate the counter gal about feeding it fish, especially feeder gold fish. All in all it was a good day. I even got "her" at 50% off because the gal wanted "her" to go to a good home.

Is she a Cranwelli?

Hey great little frog, but females do make noise too, check for pads and see that way , mine has not got any but she sings loads lol

Sorry to say, but if your frog is calling then its a boy. Both males and females can grunt, growl, hiss, bark, and make little clicking/popping sounds, but only males produce a call or croak. Other than when they're feeling threatened or when they dislike something they're quiet.

Just get your frog out for a luke warm dechlorinated soak and check for nuptial during the bath. Should help you determine sex easily.

I havent decided on a name just yet. He was making a chirping, kind of like a baby duck sound. He was completely buried in the substrate. I wasn't sure what it was at first until I saw the substrate move.

Do you have anything under the substrate other than the bare glass? If not it could be his feet rubbing on the bottom of the tank which makes a squeaky sound that has been mistaken for chirping.

Nothing under the substrate, just the glass. However, he was completely covered but he wasn't that deep. I have coconut fiber about 3.5"-4" deep in the tank.

question...my ornate and one of my cornuta will eat everyday if i offer it. Why wait? No argument here, just a frog noob wanting to know the logic.

As long as we aren't letting them get obese I don't see why that can't be fed daily. But I'm a frog noob just the same so there's probably some reason I don't know about =p

It's ok to offer food daily, but don't over feed. They will normally stop when full. A 3.5" Pacman should be eating 10 to 12 adult crickets in a single feeding so you could offer more. You can offer food every other day if you are worried about over feeding, but many will eat everyday if you offer food. It is best to offer every other day to every 2 days for adults though depending on the size of the frog and how large of a meal.
