I'm a big fan of cork bark for frogs, toads and snakes. It won't rot, and so far all the critters I've tended to love this stuff. I'm also going to go with a planted tank for the WTF. I have one for my toads that is going great with 6 bufos, spring tails & isopods to keep it clean. I also have another one that just has plants but plan on adding a mantis this spring. It looks like the viv's for GTF are very similar to WTS, just little warmer and a little more humid. Now I just need to find a reliable place to purchase the WTF.

I highly suggest you try to find a local breeder or pet store that has a good reputation. If not, petco isn't such a bad way to go. I got both of mine from petco and they're pretty healthy. However, Glurmo was there for a lot longer than Lrrr and he's less hardy it seems. So my suggestion is that you wait until they have a fresh shipment or find a pet store that will specifically order it in for you. Reptile expos are another good source. This will be cheaper than ordering your frogs online.
I've seen way to many unhealthy animals at pet stores. I'll get supplies there, but not a new friend. Repticon will be here April 6th and then there's the big reptile show in Raleigh May 4 & 5. This gives the viv plants time to take root, and gives me time to change it up if I want to.

Well this is first round on the White's set up. I'm sure I'll rearrange this at some point, but for now I think this will meet the needs of 2 frogs. When I have the 60W red bulb on it keeps it 75F (bottom) to 88F (top). Once I have the frogs I'll cover the sides until they are settled in and feel more comfortable in their new home. Now the waiting game, trying to find two frogs........I'm kinda excited about this.

That looks great! Are there live plants in there (can't tell). If not, I would suggest some sort of taller plant on the bottom for the frog to hide in and feel more secure. But I love the branches! What are they and where did you get them?
Oh nevermind about the plants. I turned the phone around and got a better look at the picture. I can see the plants now LOL
Manzanita Branches from Blooms and Branches 10" to 7 ft manzanita branches. I also have a large piece of cork bark in the back behind the the pothos on the right side, and I'll be adding more cork bark as I find pieces that will work, will also add one of the shelf fungus on the side wall.

HI all,
This is my simple wtf setup. But frogless yet.

I like this game... I'll play!
My vivarium is an 18x18x24 and from the bottom I have river rocks, four layers of screen, potting soil, then cocofibre. I have a tube in the very bottom leading up and out the back for drainage.

Thanks for the compliment! Ernie n Bert hang out a LOT on the shelf that I siliconed to the side, up there on the right. It's acutally an Zoo Med floating turtle dock (small). They prefer to be up high, for sure. The plants are hardy and take a heckuva beating every night, but being solidly planted in the substrate, they are doing very well at holding their own. I thought about putting a water feature in, but they are tree frogs, and they are not swimmers, they are butt soakers, lol.
Heres my babies set up http://www.frogforum.net/attachments...ps30bbfef4.jpg Im not a fan of my adults setup just yet so i wont share it right now.
Don't think they can't swim. They swim surprisingly well for tree frogs. Before i took down my 125 , my white's! would often go for a swim in the aquatic portion. As long as they have places to get out, water is not an issue for them. And even with 8" of water, "amazingly" i never had a f drown.![]()

Bill – All frogs/toads can swim to some extent, this I understand. But that just seems like it would suite Firebelly toads or Mossy's more so than a WTF.

Gail, most would think that, but i did a lot of research on white's and they are found quite often near streams. And since my tank was built to resemble a stream side, they loved it. I even see my mantellas jump in the deep end of their enclosure as well. I think we are so brow beat into thinking frogs will drown (what a silly concept really) that we miss out on a lot of their natural behavior by not having water in their tanks.

Bill – I'm not questioning that they don't enjoy laps around the pool, but don't you think a set up like that one needs a bit more land? IMO. And your set-up is awesome crazy, and your land to water ratio is perfect. Perfect for just about ANY frog. Wish I had the space for such a set-up
And here's my updated Whites Tree Frog tank. I really like the Manzanita branches, but they are just two thin for the bulk of the WTF, so I changed them out with grapevine and some drift wood. Now all I need is 2 frogs to move in.

Sorry, if that came off as defensive. I truly didn't mean it that way. I just get so frustrated by the topic of water in a frog tank.i remember reading an article by a herpetologist that has kept a pair of white's in a tank that is 2/3 full of water and the white's live on floating islands. I spent a LOT of time on forums talking to people much smarter and a lot more frogging experience than i before i built that tank. Shame i was flawed in my technique, but i'll correct that on the rebuild.
I love the enclosure you built. The layout of the wood flows nice and takes the eye all around the enclosure, as it should. You did a wonderful job on it. You should be very proud![]()
