Thanks Gail. I have had Shrek for 7 months and Skitter and Olive for 5 months so I'm fairly new to all this. I used to have fish and hated the whole water thing that's why with the frogs I've done fake plants and just substrate for the bottom. It's very easy to clean!

I have already had to redo my tank once thanks to Glurmo sqeezing behind the background. Now my tank is in a limbo stage until I re-do it. After a sleepless night last night I had a vivarium epiphany. I need to start drawing it out and planning the new setup! The first picture is the original set up and the last two are my current set up. The fake plants that stick to the back never stay stuck thanks to Glurmo sitting on top of them LOL. Oh and don't mind the not yet changed water dish![]()
Don't you just love those epiphanies? And i have the same water dish in my white's temporary enclosure. Except i didn't plant it.....lol

May I suggest using fabric on the outside of the glass in the back, you can use this as your background, and it's so easy to swap out a new color, texture or pattern. If you need to attach a heating pad on the back you can then use cork shelf liner that is self adhesive to cover the pad from the inside. This way they won’t burn their little bellies yet it will still warm up the tank. Over the past few years I’ve done a lot of designing in tanks and this works great. Just make sure you extend the cork sheeting past the heating pad or it may peel off.

That's not a bad idea. I don't have a heating pad so that wouldn't be an issue. My first choice for a background is tree fern panels ( Exo Terra : Tree Fern / Tropical Background Panels ). They're a bit pricey but really cool. But your fabric idea gives me another idea. I've been trying to think of an easy way to better insulate my tank and using felt would do a good job!
Thanks Michelle for your setup picture! I have the exact same size and background but I cant figure out what to do with it since it is an arboreal tank and I have no arboreal creatures yet. I love the positioning of the plants!
can i ask what lighting you use? my plants look like there starting to die (my first planted tank)

Manzy will work. I always thought grapevine would end up rotting long term. All the wood in my white's tanks are manzy or mopani

I'm a big fan of cork bark for frogs, toads and snakes. It won't rot, and so far all the critters I've tended to love this stuff. I'm also going to go with a planted tank for the WTF. I have one for my toads that is going great with 6 bufos, spring tails & isopods to keep it clean. I also have another one that just has plants but plan on adding a mantis this spring. It looks like the viv's for GTF are very similar to WTS, just little warmer and a little more humid. Now I just need to find a reliable place to purchase the WTF.

I highly suggest you try to find a local breeder or pet store that has a good reputation. If not, petco isn't such a bad way to go. I got both of mine from petco and they're pretty healthy. However, Glurmo was there for a lot longer than Lrrr and he's less hardy it seems. So my suggestion is that you wait until they have a fresh shipment or find a pet store that will specifically order it in for you. Reptile expos are another good source. This will be cheaper than ordering your frogs online.
I've seen way to many unhealthy animals at pet stores. I'll get supplies there, but not a new friend. Repticon will be here April 6th and then there's the big reptile show in Raleigh May 4 & 5. This gives the viv plants time to take root, and gives me time to change it up if I want to.

Well this is first round on the White's set up. I'm sure I'll rearrange this at some point, but for now I think this will meet the needs of 2 frogs. When I have the 60W red bulb on it keeps it 75F (bottom) to 88F (top). Once I have the frogs I'll cover the sides until they are settled in and feel more comfortable in their new home. Now the waiting game, trying to find two frogs........I'm kinda excited about this.

I've thinned out the ground cover a little, and since I've done this, they spend more time higher up. I don't think they like the sandblasted grapevine though. I wonder if it's to rough for their skin. I'm headed to the Repticon in Columbia next month so I'll be picking up some new wood pieces. I also keep the sides covered with pillow cases to give them a more secure feeling. I'm just waiting to find some cool static cling sheets to put up instead.
Lamb.......hope you are enjoying your new found friends as much as I do.
