Have you looked online to see if you have a Habitat for Humanity Store? They get all kinds of furniture donations and you never know what you'll find for a great price. A few months ago, I found a mahognay TV stand with framed glass doors and casters that made the perfect stand for my tree frog tank (valued at $160, bought it at HHS for about $35!) And since things are cheep and second hand, their good to mod. Most HHS places have lumber, too, so you could build shelving into, say, a wardrobe or entertainment cabinet. Might have luck at thrift stores, too, and flea markets.
