So, I went on Vacation for 4 days and I left my FBT's with my Friend to babysit. I have been feeding them the larger noise crickets cause that's all my Pet Store has at this moment. I get a call from her half way threw and she informs me there are tiny little bugs crawling around my FBT's tank. I tell her not to worry about it and I'll handle it when I get back. I get them home and move there stuff around and I find at least 30 of these little guys under there food bowl. I poke them and they jump into the air, I picked one up and to my surprise it's a Micro Cricket. These things are so tiny you have to squint to see them. My question is how did they get in there? Do I need to get them out or is it okay to leave them in? How long will it take for them to get big enough for my frogs to eat? This just blows my mind!
Hi
Great questions.
These could be springtails? Is there soil in the enclosure?
Were you able to determine --for sure-- that they are crickets?
If they are it will take forever for them to grow, and could possibly annoy or even bite your FBTs
The little buggers will drown it they get in the water!
Keep a watch full eye.
If you were planning to clean -- (and these are crickets ) this is a good time to do it.
If they are springtails ----just leave them. They will clean the soil! Freebies !
Another possibility - mites ? But they are round. They hitch a ride on the crickets.

If they are baby crickets, they will die off in a couple weeks without food. If you are worried or they are bothering your frogs, do a substrate change as Lynn has noted. Baby crickets look just like adult crickets but are tiny. It is likely that a big mama cricket was carrying eggs, ready to deposit into your nice, warm, moist substrate. Grrr!
This happened some time ago in my pacman's tank. They did annoy him so I took out the substrate. Rinsed until they drowned. Cleaned them out and placed new.
Good as new.

They are crickets. They don't seem to be bothering my frogs yet, they already ate the 3 big crickets that were left in there. I'm just gonna let them die off, unless the start bothering them. Thank you guys for all the advice![]()
