the ultimate (?) plant thread
well, i figured that since we don't have a subforum for plant stuff, i would start a thread for plants. this way, there's a centralized place (sort of) for plant questions, comments, suggestion, link to where to buy plants from, ect. even if you want to list your favorite species for certain types of vivariums, feel free to post in here.
i may even start a thread about lighting, haven't decided if i want to sit still long enough to type out a "lighting primer".....lol

Great idea! I bought plants for my retf build but that's as far as I got thanks to having to work the holidays away. I will post pics of them to get input later. But I will be returning a diffenbachia I bought. I had no idea how toxic they could be and with 2 crazy iggy pups running around getting into anything and everything, I just didn't want to take a chance.

Lol read an article about clippings getting eaten by their dogs... my little girls lovveee the trashcans lol one of them even figured out how to open the lid with the push button lol. I love em but not are they mischievous. I love the diffenbachia, but I don't want to take a chance. I think I went a little plant crazy anyway lol.

That's why my plant trimmings go into my compost bin. I have a cat that loves to root through the trash for fun.....lol and going plant crazy isn't a bad thing. When you have too many plants, that just means you need to build another viv

Ok so here are my pants I picked up last week. Before putting them in the viv I'm building ( 18x18x24 tall exo terra weather eggcrate false bottom) , I will thoroughly wash them and remove all dirty and use plantation soil for there roots. What y'all think?

Bill, I'm not too sure, I will check the tag when I get home. Thought it would give some nice big leaves high up for my little guys. Also ordered a really cool manzanita branch from Josh s frogs eighth some oak leaf litter to top it all off.

That would be google. Lol i spend more time researching various species and biotopes than i do id'ing plants. But if i had to pick one that i use most, it would be exotic angel's website. They are the grower that a lot of the big box stores utilize.
