I prefer locusts to crickets, and black crickets to house/brown. For what it's worth.

The black ones look gross.

I use small locusts (hoppers) all the time for my FBTs and they love them (so do I actually but not to eat) I keep them going in a large plastic box with tights stretched over the top for ventilation and feed them on carrot, fruit, bug -grub, anything saladee.

They're fascinating to watch and I can pick them up without screaming. I wouldn't go near crickets yuk.

The black ones look gross.

I think they're cute. (And smaller. At least, where I live.) I say smaller as a good thing because most people are afraid of insects when they are on the larger side.
