Default Which light to use at night

    Hello everyone, need some direction:
My Pacmen and African bullfrog are all together, each in their separate tanks in the one room. During the day the lights from the three large (40, 55, 75 gal.) fish tanks come on and light the room. At night, when I want to feed them, I want to use an incandescent light that will seem more natural than the compact fluorescent light bulb (CFL) I now use….It doesn't’seem to bother them, but I’m sure when the room goes from dark to bright light at night, then I feed them, it just doesn’t seem “normal” for these guys.
    So, a couple of questions:

What kind and where can I get an incandescent bulb that would be more natural and less stressful when feeding the frogs at night.

Is feeding the frogs at night, because they’re nocturnal, better, easier, than during the day? Is the African bull frog an exception to this?

What’s the optimum day/night time that should be used?

If I have to change the fixture to a fluorescent one, for better lighting, that’s no problem, I just want to do what’s best for the frogs.

Thanks, I certainly appreciate your feedback.

    Lloyd

while i'm sure one of the pacman gurus may see this, you might try posting this in the pacman subforum, where Grif or Mike or one of the other very knowledgeable folk will see it. My suggestion (which may be wrong) would be a red incandescent bulb. but i'm not 100% sure.

Thanks Bill: I was going to do that....I just thought, and probably wrongly so, that this would be more relevant, but then, as you said, the pacman experts, and those much more knowledgeable than me, would be apt to see it in the pacman forum.

Hey, I see you're from Philly....Yeah, born and raised there....Lived in the Frankford section.

I'm also a planted tank guy.......They're sooooo much better than those stupid plastic "things"......

Thanks, I'll cross post in Pacman

Ha!..........Small world......My buddy and I would go to the end of Orthodox St., right by the river, down in Bridesburg and there were these big rain water "ponds" and we'd scoop up daphina for our fish....Hey, remember going to Martin's pet store in Germantown?......And can't forget the Pennsauken Mart...That pet shop had some neat turtles from time to time.
I started out at Dodge Steel, next to the Tacony Palmyra bridge........Last time I was in Philly, in 2010, and driving up 95, It wasn't even there!

    Since I don't know what TPT is, I doubt I'm a member....What is it?

Martin's, that brings back memories. i bought my first octopus there back in the 80's....lol Sadly, pennsauken mart was torn down and rebuilt, not even to it's former glory, to kr@p...lol Dodge steel has been gone for quite some time now, just an empty lot for about a decade i believe.

TPT is the planted tank forum. plantedtank.net. just like here, a good group of folk it's one of my home away from homes....lol
