Ornament Sealant Question

I am making a waterfall for an upcoming FBT tank. I have it completely made (and using safe materials - styrofoam, aquarium safe glue and aquarium safe paint) except for a final, clear sealant to go over the finished product. I have seen multiple posts saying to use one type of sealant and then other posts saying not to use that kind.

So far, I know it needs to be waterproof and have no mildew inhibitors in it. Has anyone else made homemade ornaments/decorations?

Does anyone know what type of sealant is out there that is safe to completely cover a homemade ornament?

you can use ge silicone II, but it will dry dull and opaque. you can use titebond III wood glue, but it dries yellow. you can use a two part epoxy. that will dry clear. marine epoxy also dries clear and is water proof, but pricey. had you not painted it, you could have painted it instead with drylok paint. then you would not have needed to seal it.

So it seems like a 2-part epoxy is my best bet. Is that stuff gooey or does it come out liquidy? Is it easily spreadable by hand (gloves, of course) or brush?

I used a paint brush when i used the 2 part epoxy. I used a small glass dish that I could just throw away when I was done and squeezed both bottles at the same time into the bowl, trying to get equal parts of each, and mixed it up with a paintbrush and painted it on. It starts setting in 5 minutes, so only make as much as you will use in 5 minutes

So the waterproof 2 part epoxies are totally watertight and are safe to use in submerged areas? I'm assuming it is non-toxic after a week or two of curing.
