If they ingest it yeah, I this is only temporary, all gravel other than the thin layer under the water is covered with a good layer eco earth. His diet while he's in this set up is going to mostly consist of tong fed nightcrawler chunks and tiny dubia nymphs either in a small dish or of tongs so I'm not to worried about accidental ingestion. When I make his permenant home there won't be any gravel. I wanted a small simple setup that was easily adjusted so I can learn about the toad and see his preferences and behaviors before I invest into a permenant set up.

I don't know that he will accept it yet but that is the plan I have set for the moment. I left him alone for the most part all yesterday to allow him to adjust. If he doesn't go for it right away he is nice and fat and I can give him a day or 2 of trying the tongs before I make adjustments to the tank and get him some small crickets to hunt. Either way the gravel is probably getting covered with some larger stones so I can raise the land higher so I can make the water a little deeper and going to add a piece of wood in the water to climb on

Gave him his first meal today, he was uninterested in taking food off the tongs so far so well have to work on that. He did take a small dubia nymph off of the shore line though. I wanted to offer them in a dish but couldn't really find anything small enough that the nymphs couldn't escape from. So for now I drop them on the shore in front of him and poke at them with the tongs to keep them moving and away from the gravel in the water. After about 30 seconds of checking it out he gobbled it up and hopped away.
