OK so I hear A LOT about NOT putting moss in a pacman set up because of impaction...but I am starting to realize that my frog doesnt eat anything unless it moves AND I feed it in a separate container.....I like moss because it holds water so well...should I still not run the risk? or do people say not to add because they feed in the tank and the pacman might accidentally eat it?
Loose dead moss can cause impaction. But you are not feeding in the enclosure so i do not see a problem.
The moss tends to stick to their skin so they end up eating it when they shed. So even if you are not feeding in the tank there is still a high risk of ingestion.
It seems to mold/hold bacteria easily too... idk exactly what it is, but it gets funky pretty fast.
I wouldn,t reccommend loose moss. Instead, I would use the "jungle moss that they sell at petsmart brcause it is mostly in one piece. I also like the flukers spaghnum moss. I have usedboth of them with good success. Personally, I like coconut husk because it holds in moisture, is easy to clean, and is safe if swallowed.
