Default Is this dwarf or giant bull frog?

Guys, I orderd one africa bull frog from my local pet store. When I saw it, I found it looks a little bit weird. The color is more dark than regular bullfrog. Do you guys know what the differences between dwarf and regular? I am worried it is a dwarf one. BTW, sorry for the unclear picture.Name: 1.jpg

The dwarfs don't eat as much, that's one good thing!

Im pretty new to african bullfrogs, Im wondering, is there a sure way to tell the differance? between Pyxicephalus edulis and pyxicephalus adspersus I saw this thread and hoped it would say something about it. I recently recieed one locally and it is small but i just was wondering which it was. any help would be great.

Baby adspersus (Giants) have three neon green stripes on their backs. One straight down the middle and two that exte.d diagonally from just behind what is the shoulder back and down towards the side of the frogs belly. These lines all fade on the giants for the most part. If the giants do retai. The diagonal stripes they turn white. The giants are generally more green as well. The Edulis tend to be brown and have a cream colored dorsal stripe that they retain to adulthood. As I said, 99% of giants' dorsal stripes fade as they grow. Both species have a mottled camo pattern as youngsters, but whereas the giants fade to a generally solid green to olive drab, the Edulis retain the mottled pattern until adulthood.

Look up Pyxicephalus Adspersus (Giant) as well as P. Edulis (dwarf) on Google images for a comparison and education of what to look for. Notice that the Edulis usually have a softer, cartoon character look with high set, large eyes. MOST Adspersus have smaller eyes and look more "wise"...??...lol. sorry...once you see the differences it is easy to spot a dwarf/giant. Its Def not easy to describe "the look" of the giants.

I reccomend getting the e-book Giant African Bullfrog: Life History and Captive Husbandry (Phillipe de Vasjoli 2012)

    Hope this helps.

You bet. Here is a guy selling GABF on Faunaclassifieds.com.

For Sale CBB Giant Pixie Frogs - Pyxicephalus Adspersus - Export available - FaunaClassifieds

    He's reputable.

I would also recommend LLL reptile supply.
    Animals

There are a bunch of adds on Kingsnake.com. You'll have to research the distributors (companies) on the Faunaclassifieds board of inquiry (BOI). It's usually pretty reliable as far as a persons rep goes, but is not the end all be all for what a dealer will do. You can have a bad experience with a good guy, and a good experience with a bad guy (both good guy and bad guy are referring to how the BOI rates sellers/buyers).

If you see something, post it up and we'll get back to you on what you are looking at.

I'll try that at an expo
"Sir, I can't afford your $6000 snake, however I have this nifty machete on me! If we just cut him in half he's only $3000, right? Only need the half that I can breed him with "
