Spoiled Frog!

I'm still medicating my guy once a day, and he is now hand trained to eat! I realize he can bite and this is not recommended, but I didn't do it on purpose! I got into the habit of popping a phoenix worm into his mouth after his medicine, and now he expects it! It is hilarious! I'm going to try to convert this to tong feeding, I'm thinkng it should be pretty easy to do. I had stopped trying to tong train when I started the medication because I didn't want to add extra stress.

well yeah, you better keep your fingers farther away from him, you know when a BIG frog goes for them it is scary, like seriously scary lol nobody in our family, but me, is brave enough to do something in the tank with my biggest ornate in there, but she is my baby, we used to each other, so it is all good

They really are just one giant mouth, aren't they??? LOL! Like I said, I'm not planning on doing this forever, I started it to kind of off set the medication. But now it turns out he also seems to like, or at least not mind, the taste of it! Silly little guy, I'm just glad he's getting better.

PS- My previous frog bit me once, so I know it's not fun. At all. They can be fast when they want to be!!

He had the leg swelling that the vet felt was either an infection or possible the start of liver failure. I had only had him 3 weeks when it happened, so the thought of liver failure was devastating. But the swelling is finally slowly going down, so it must have been an infection. At least I'm really hoping.

Glad to hear he's doing better I wouldn't worry about getting bitten so much as accidentally hurting the frog if it surprised me. I know I can't help but jump sometimes even with tongs when Trevor goes from zero to sixty in no time.

Mine won't bite at me unless there's food around. Don't know if she likes me or if I just know how to move so that I don't look like food, but anyone else goes in there and she'll draw blood.

I believe its a little of both. If they're used to you they are less likely to be aggressive towards you, but you still have to be cautious. If they mistake your fingers for worms you're left with sore bleeding fingers and a frog who in now incontent because your finger wadn't actually food Lol!! Sanguine has had some sort of grudge against Colleen ever since the first day he arrived here. Like he blames her for putting him in that cup, placing him in a cardboard box, and shipping him accross the country. Still has this little grudge, but he is beginning to get used to her. I can donwhatever I want with him.

I've had Trevor stick my finger with her tongue before and then let go. It's almost like she thought about it before just trying to nom on me. Being bitten by the frog is not nearly as bad as being bitten by my snakes (neither of which are as painful as playing with my dog...) but I'm still pretty careful around her. She always freaks out if she gets something in her mouth that isn't food, like tongs or fingers

Trimethoprim liquid with chicken flavoring. He mentioned Baytril, but that my guy was too little for it.
