So imagine this.
I come home from work (3pm) feed the darts, and go for a run.
I come back ( 40 minutes later) and go back down into the basement to clean tree frog bowls and see the exo-terra door of the Leuc's enclosure ,locked but not closed all the way. (Sometime the locks are funky ) It's not small ( the foot print is 36x18) it's very planted w/ tons of places for them to hide.
I panicked, close the door right away and start searching, and searching. I start to think that maybe it was not open enough for one to escape? I closed it so fast I really didn't think to look at how ajar the door was. I could find only 4 of my 5 leus.Plus they are so curious, they usually come right to the front of the enclosure when I'm there. I searched inside the enclosure for at least 30 minutes. Very upset , and assuming one got out ...or worse the cat ate one; I got my husband to help me search. We searched the surrounding area in and outside the enclosure w/ flash lights. No luck.
Still seeing only 4 in the enclosure ,I started to remove every piece of leaf litter, move every possible hiding place. Still, No luck. It's now 8pm! Hours of searching , and I'm in tears.
I tried to make dinner. Couldn't eat.
I went back down just now( 8:30 ) to find all 5 safe and sound! All looking at me, as if to say, "why did you make such a mess in here !"

Oh my goodness! You must have been having a panic attack! :/ I know I would have!
Thankfully they all stayed put. That must mean they like their home
.
So glad you found him.

Glad you found all 5 save. You would have been up all night worrying about them. I had a Zoo Med door open so I decided to bend a paperclip to fit into the lock.

This is a great idea, Don thanks.
I think the door to this enclosure is actually defective.
I noticed the wacky lock as soon as I got it.
I really should have reported it PRIOR to removing the screens in the lid.
Adding the glass actually helped a bit.
Happy ending. They're all so cut !
