I have 2 Red-Eyed Leaf Frog one is male for sure and he is very vocal and I was thinking the other one was also because they are both right around the same size. The past few nights the one that I know is male for sure has been trying to mate with the other one. Is this normal or could I have a male and a female?
Hi Debbie,
Welcome to Frog Forum.
This is normal behavior. It could be 2 males wrestling a bit. Simply make sure they have plenty of wide leaves to sleep on during the day, positioned in their enclosure as high as possible. I would not worry about them. I have 4 males in my enclosre- they all get along just fine!
Amplexus , is quite obvious. They hold on and do not let go!
Here is a you tube video of red eyed amplexus. The male happens to be shedding as well.
There is typically a substantial size difference in males and females. The female being the larger of the species.
