Okay so what do I need to do? If i have his light on it kills the humidity of the tank. Does shedding inhibit their appetite, do they go to the bathroom when they shed or do they hold it in till after. How long does it take to shed?

Yup, they do it quite often, especially when they're growing. You really don't need to do anything, just watch or leave him in peace, heh. I don't think it will effect it's appetite at all and I have never seen one go to the bathroom and shed simultaneously, but that doesn't mean they can't. I don't know an exact time it takes them to shed, since I've never sat there and watched from start to finish. I don't think it would take much longer than half an hour to shed though.

Okay well, he is just sitting on the substrate now, not even burrowing. I guess he is alright. He only ate 2 crickets today. Probably full on shed lol.

Do they also do this if they are hungry? Every time it seems its been a few days since I have fed my guy, he will come out of his hole and start opening his mouth randomly. I thought that maybe, if he lived in the wild, this would work for catching flies and things.

Nah, they only do this for shedding from what I know. In the wild they have a way of attracting prey and by doing that they sit still and kind of wave their arm around. I've heard of them doing it in captivity but I've never seen it.

There's no real connection between shedding and hunger. I suppose if a pac was severely stressed, that could throw off their normal shed schedule and cause them to shed more or less than normal... But generally, they don't have anything to do with each other You probably just haven't noticed him doing it other times, or it could be coincidence.

It's really strange looking. There are several youtube videos of it. I saw one where the frog was toe-wiggling to attract a dead pinkie. Needless to say, that didn't work out like he'd hoped it would.

The only other time mine does it is right after he swallows some prey. He'll shut his eyes, then open and shut his mouth quickly as he opens his eyes back up.

Yes its the same yawning motion. This is how they swallow their prey and shed skin.
