WC frogs a bad idea??

I got a bit of a telling off from the vet today.... When he was examining my frog, vet was asking questions about the frog's history. I told him I'd only had the frog for 4 weeks, and I didn't know much about him as he was wild caught.

So began the lecture.... I was told to try to stick to CB animals as buying WC creates a demand. I do understand this, but it seems to me that the majority of frogs for sale (particularly adults) are WC. Is it really a huge problem? It's not like White's are endangered (which would a completely different story!).

White's are a pest/invasive species in many parts of the world. I agree in principle with him but I'd make an exception for White's.

Well, the vet was Australian and he said "Back home, these guys make so much noise we have to turn our TV's right up!"
Haha, so yeah. They sound like a pest!! Well, I'm not gonna beat myself up about having a WC White's then Then next one on my list is a baby though, and probably CB..... So my conscious will be clear

You should always try to buy captive bred when ever possible. Of course that isn't always possible for every species offered. For those of us that do buy WC animals, we have a responsibility to try and breed these animals. So, I would say don't buy WC, unless you intend to breed them.

Well now I feel bad about my Megophyrs Nasuta (I just woke up...I hope I got that right. ). I didn't know he was WC till after I bought him though....and I don't think it's easy to breed them!

You can always try. When those first eggs are laid you will be egg-static!

To be honest, I don't think I'll be buying anymore WC frogs I can imagine it's extremely stressful for the poor things. However, I have no intention of breeding my White's. They're not exactly short in supply are they
