Hey all i was at the store yesterday and i came upon a beautiful frog plastered to the side of the tank called an Lemon Hourglass frog. Even though i don't have or neva had a tree frog this thing was wicked awesome looking. Have any of you guy's ever herd of this type of frog or even seen it cause i neva have before. I don't know why they call it a lemon it was i think black and white but i could not see the under side of the lil fella.... i JUST NOW looked up the frog on google it looks like the pattern on the back but the one i saw was def black and white any idea if the people at the store are morons or are there black and white Lemon hourglass frogs?
My guess is that it was Dendrosophus ebraccatus or luecophyllatus. The latter comes in a maroon/white form that fits your description.
It was black and white not maroon and yes it looks like the Dendrosophus ebraccatus are they rare cuz i have neva seen one?![]()
Yes Dendrosophus ebraccatus is known as the hourglass tree frog. I don't think they are particularly rare in wc form, but the only person I know who breeds and sells cb is Michael Novy of Rainforestjunkys. Very cool frogs. They should have brownish patterns against a pale yellow backdrop, like in the picture. How big is the one at the petstore? Amazon milk frogs (Trachycephalus resinifictrix) have black and white patterns but they get much bigger.
It was tiny maybe an inch or so.
