For heat I have a UTH on the side as well as a red bulb. That way I can really bump up the temp if it's getting really cold at night, or just turn one on for daytime.
Britta can remove straight chlorine from the water, but much chlorine used in water treatment reacts with organic matter, turning it into a type of trihalomethane. Britta can't remove THM's though. Humans mostly just care about the chlorine taste, so you're right there. I usually just don't go into the detail, but the chemical threat of chlorine-treated water to frogs isn't eliminated by the Britta![]()
