any name that can be boy or girl for my toad?
Name it Sherry![]()
can my setup be like this and also i think my frog isnt hungry anymore it doesnt mind the worm and cricket. Is my setup correct i used all of it in available materials. can this be my setup for my toady?
I would find a way to get some clean dirt without chemicals and use that as substrate rather than paper towels. Toads don't like wet conditions even the tropical kind look for dryer areas, but always are near a water source. Read the care sheet that was posted earlier in the thread and try and follow its instructions. I will suggest that you cover 3 sides of the tank with some sort of dark background. This will make him feel more secure.
If you name it Henry and it turns out to be a female just call it Henrietta.

I would really get him some dirt. Most toads like to burrow. He will feel a lot safer and happier that way. During the day he will sleep under the dirt. Then in the evening or night he will come out looking for food. I feed my toads every 3 days. They are little pigs and will eat a lot in one sitting. They will eat nearly anything. I give them crickets and dubia roaches. Every now and again as a treat I'll give them some mealworms. A lot of people feed earth worms too but my toads don't seem to like them. I also catch moths outside my porch light in the summer and feed them to my toads. Oh and pill bugs! They really really like pill bugs!
They need food that will more around a bit. They will flick their tongue out at anything that moves. Even your fingers which is really cute! So bugs that don't move very much may not get eaten.
Edit to add that if he grows to be a big toad you may need a bigger box to keep him in. I keep my toads in a big plastic storage box! Got my dirt from outside and my moss and leaf litter. Used a regular plastic bowl for water (big enough for them to all to sit in but not very deep). So toad set ups are very cheap and easy to make. Just make sure if you get stuff from outside that there is no chance that it came in contact with any chemicals!
He still wont eat it pooped already and also why wont it eat he just stands there and not even looking at the mealworm and running away from crickets?? and i tried placing him back to the pet carrier and he jumped like crazy and i place him back to the tank and settled but he wont eat!!! last 2 days he ate lots of worms. And how do i prevent ants from crawling into my toad tank will it hurt him?? and also i removed his water bowl for he doesnt go in and drowns the crickets.i would try to find a black paper him and also just want to be sure since he's wild caught im just feeling weird for it the day we caught him he was eating right away but now it doesnt eat. and also i cant obtain any soil. and also i made him a cave and he just sits on the side of his tank doing nothing so i placed him some mealworms in his front and he doesnt seem to find it. so i just left it there so if he's hungry hell eat it . And also having trouble with ant thingy anyone help me if he's normal and prevent ants??
hey grif i cleaned the ants out and also i upgraded my terrarium made him a cave out of rocks and a dish of mealworms and big leaves and for the substrate changed it to leaf litter bought from pet shop it was green chopped leaves and i gave him some bits of garden soil ( with fertilizer) but only one sprinkle around his tank and big leaves for him to hide. Now is this a better setup? and also will he find the worms in the small plastic color green bowl not transparent but low height for him to eat do you think he will eat it now and be happy with his habitat??and also why does he ignore crickets only want the worms and also i spray his tank. Will he eat and be happy now?i also want to know if he will eat at the plastic bowl...

There should be NO fertilizer in the soil.
no chance of eating in his bowl he is chubby and pooped this morning and he still wont eat he ate from last 1-2 days and now it doesnt want should i just place his bowl of food next to him? so that he can eat the mealworms i tried crickets and it ended up riding on him....... and also doesnt my toad look like a fowler toad?
First step in identifying your toad is to look at a list of toads in the Philipines to narrow it down. Here's AmphibiaWebs list (it's all amphibians):
http://amphibiaweb.org/cgi-bin/amphi...cc=Philippines
Look up all the toads on the list. Read the descriptions, look at pictures. You'll probably need to look at other websites for more details on a species. Don't stop even if you think you've found a match, especially for a young critter it can be hard to get a definitive ID with similar species. It's always possible to get a foreign invader, but far more probable that it's something on the above list.
Ideally when looking at individual species you should try to find descriptions by someone in the Phillipines that also includes 'similar species' for the area and key distinguishing features. A book on amphibians of the Philipines might be handy as localized guides often include this. Cane toad does look possible and it appears to be the most common to your area, but I know virtually nothing about other toads or frogs you have in the Phillipines, so I have no clue about look a-likes (there may be none).
If you haven't seen it already, here's Johns basic Toad care guide Frog Forum - Toad Basics - Keeping ground-dwelling Toads. A care sheet for Bufo, Anaxyrus, Spea, Scaphiopus, Ollotis, Alytes, Pelobates
he ate already yey 3 times mealworms a day is it ok?? and also why wont he eat my crickets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and also he was bitten by ants because of the crickets the ants ate all the crickets cause it was there for 2 days and now he got bitten in the toe and he jumped crazily i squashed all the ants and he settled down and he sits on top of his cave is this normal??here's a pic:
the one in circle is the bite and that is on top of his cave.......... and can anyone tell me why he refuses crickets it only likes the mealworms?? oh yeah and also what is that fluid thingy in the picture is it the pee??
Try pill bugs and roaches if you can get any. I'm not sure what you have access to. I'd keep trying crickets now and then, too. Just don't leave them in the cage. He might decide one day that he likes them.
What other bugs do you really have access too? Toads will normally eat anything small enough to fit in their mouths, but like Grif said, strictly meal-worms isn't a very good diet. I'm not sure if millipedes would be ok or not. He might eat one if it crossed his path in the wild, doesn't mean it's good for him though. Cane toads are really hearty animals and will normally eat anything in their path.. it's up to you if you want to try a millipede. I know some smell bad and the toad might not go for it.
