Yes the dark paper will work. If he has already eaten alot then he is probably not hungry.

I would really get him some dirt. Most toads like to burrow. He will feel a lot safer and happier that way. During the day he will sleep under the dirt. Then in the evening or night he will come out looking for food. I feed my toads every 3 days. They are little pigs and will eat a lot in one sitting. They will eat nearly anything. I give them crickets and dubia roaches. Every now and again as a treat I'll give them some mealworms. A lot of people feed earth worms too but my toads don't seem to like them. I also catch moths outside my porch light in the summer and feed them to my toads. Oh and pill bugs! They really really like pill bugs!

They need food that will more around a bit. They will flick their tongue out at anything that moves. Even your fingers which is really cute! So bugs that don't move very much may not get eaten.

Edit to add that if he grows to be a big toad you may need a bigger box to keep him in. I keep my toads in a big plastic storage box! Got my dirt from outside and my moss and leaf litter. Used a regular plastic bowl for water (big enough for them to all to sit in but not very deep). So toad set ups are very cheap and easy to make. Just make sure if you get stuff from outside that there is no chance that it came in contact with any chemicals!

He still wont eat it pooped already and also why wont it eat he just stands there and not even looking at the mealworm and running away from crickets?? and i tried placing him back to the pet carrier and he jumped like crazy and i place him back to the tank and settled but he wont eat!!! last 2 days he ate lots of worms. And how do i prevent ants from crawling into my toad tank will it hurt him?? and also i removed his water bowl for he doesnt go in and drowns the crickets.i would try to find a black paper him and also just want to be sure since he's wild caught im just feeling weird for it the day we caught him he was eating right away but now it doesnt eat. and also i cant obtain any soil. and also i made him a cave and he just sits on the side of his tank doing nothing so i placed him some mealworms in his front and he doesnt seem to find it. so i just left it there so if he's hungry hell eat it . And also having trouble with ant thingy anyone help me if he's normal and prevent ants??

You can place a line of baking soda around the carrier. Surrounding it with the baking soda will stop the from trying to get in and they will avoid it. Baking prevents the ants from being able to breathe normally the wont attempt to cross it.

hey grif i cleaned the ants out and also i upgraded my terrarium made him a cave out of rocks and a dish of mealworms and big leaves and for the substrate changed it to leaf litter bought from pet shop it was green chopped leaves and i gave him some bits of garden soil ( with fertilizer) but only one sprinkle around his tank and big leaves for him to hide. Now is this a better setup? and also will he find the worms in the small plastic color green bowl not transparent but low height for him to eat do you think he will eat it now and be happy with his habitat??and also why does he ignore crickets only want the worms and also i spray his tank. Will he eat and be happy now?i also want to know if he will eat at the plastic bowl...

There should be NO fertilizer in the soil.
