Pacman colour
Hi,
Going back about 4 months or so, I purchased a pacman. He was sold as a pepermint. He was a nice green/blue
however he did not look anything like the pepermints I have seen on here.
Ive just been looking at some photos of when I first brought him and I'm quite surprised. He is now more brown than green. Don't get me wrong I like the colour he is now with greens golds and browns coming through. I just wondered if it's normal for these frogs to loose colour with age?
Ive just brought a baby albino that is a very nice colour and I also wonder if he will change with time. this little fella seems to change colour depending on his mood :-)

Re: Pacman colour
If u have them on coco fiber then they will try to blend in and turn brown. If u were to move them to a white surface like paper towels then their true colors come out

Some people also keep them on a blue foam that makes them naturally brighten their colors
2.0 Bombina orientalis
1.0 Bufo americanus

0.1 Xenopus laevis
All my arachnids and other inverts listed in my profile

Donna that is absolutely normal, they tend to blend with surroundings to some extend, but I'd rather take that and provide more natural enclosure then to switch to paper towels or foam and change it all daily. the color can also change with age.
Save one animal and it doesn't change the world, but it surely changes the world for that one animal!

Re: Pacman colour
I've tried everything. My personal preference is a wet paper towel with a water bowl. I like seeing the colors. Unfortunately it's a lot of cleaning. I go through a big roll of paper towels a week. $13 every 8 weeks.

Thanks for the information. If It's normal that's fine.
I prefer the more natural setup so I'll stick with that I think.
do the bright morphs hold their colour more even on darker substrate?

The UK peppermints are different from samurai. Do you have a pic of your peppermint?

I don't think he is a peppermint but I might be wrong. I have some pics of when I brought him and I took some the other night. I'll post them up later.

Re: Pacman colour
He is a brown and green morph. Really pretty colors but not a peppermint. Peppermint have little to no side patterns and have a all green body with 4-6 brown patterns

Thanks. I was sure he wasn't a peppermint. He is looking quite cool now as he has little green patches with different browns and almost golds.
