Ya they can hop good. They have normal size legs.

I took a pic of the two. I will post it here shortly.

It would surprise you how good these frogs can jump, especially as adults. They will catch you off guard now and then and make a huge leap.. gotta always be aware with these guys.

It's true. I let my 2 1/2" little fella, at the time, hop around in a baby pool while I cleaned out his home. He'd run and slide across and hopped up and out once. I believe the sides of the pool are about 8".

Are these expensive? What part of the country do you live and did yours come from a pet store? Maybe we don't have them here because of our location...

This is a type of Pacman frogs, it's actually a hybrid known as a Fantasy frog. This one just happens to look amazingly close to a green Cornuta. The odds of finding one of these in a pet store anywhere is very very slim. Your best bet is looking at reptile shows. Sometimes Petco and Petsmart will have your regular cranwelli pacman frogs though, many other pet stores will too.

Fantasy frogs normally run about $20-$40 while you can find regular pacman frogs as low as $15 at reptile shows.

EDIT: I wanted to add that there are a couple of reptile shows in Ohio and depending how close you are to michigan, there is a good one in Taylor, I go pretty often and there are usually pacman frogs there. I don't see many Fantasy Pacman frogs though.

Oh, thank you for telling me. I did not know about reptile shows. I'll try to find out if there is one here. These frogs cost more than I guessed, but sure are cute! I still love my FB's but the frog you have is really cool. We do have a petco and petsmart, maybe they sell them. I presume this frog needs water like mine do. Oh and live food, too. Anything different from your type and FB's? Thanks!

These frogs need Substrate like Eco Earth to burrow in and just a water bowl for water. You'd have to change it daily. They also eat live food such as nightcrawlers, crickets, dubia roaches, and when they're bigger stuff like pinkies/mice if you really want. They also make Pacman food for them. There is a good guide on Pacman frog care of this website, here is a link.

Frog Forum - Pacman and Horned Frogs - Ceratophrys - Care and Breeding

These frogs aren't very active and when they are, it's at night time. They eat a lot too, especially females, males not nearly as much IMO. You won't see them a lot either as they like to hide/burrow unless they're coming out to eat. Still, they are awesome frogs and are a very fun pet. The Pacman frogs you'll find at Petco or Petsmart will probably only be $15, but they don't always have them in the best conditions and they can be in a bad state of health sometimes when you get them there. You're best bet is to buy one from a reptile show or a breeder. There is a reptile expo in Columbus, Ohio. I think there is one in Cleveland, too. Just make sure you do research and know more about the frog before buying, so you know it's something you'd be interested in.

Lol, sorry for derailing your post Mike.

Oh, thank you for the information, I am in Toledo and I never knew there were reptile shows. Like you said, the frog might not be in great condition from one of those stores. A month ago I was in petsmart looking at FB's (before I bought mine). I found 3 really dead flat decayed frogs. I showed them to the employee and this person was not surprised at all and said sometimes this happens. Well, it probably does. What this tells me is that their frog tank had not been attended to for days, maybe weeks. They should have been checking it so the customer does not find this. I check my tanks many times a day! every day! They didn't. My newest FB's came from pet supplies plus and 1 of them was skinny. He has been offered more worms and seems ok, but lucky he lived long enough to get to my house.

But, the pacmac is just as cool as FB's and mine do have eco earth fiber. That reminds me, as soon as I wake up more their tank is getting cleaned today. I have to figure out a way to keep pebbles pushed up toward one end of aquarium. I tried using rocks underneath to make a wall, now I know I need more rocks, not a problem. I also wonder if indoor outdoor carpet would be nice for them? Might stop at Lowe's to see if they sell a small amount of it. It was just a thought. Write anytime as I love hearing about your pacman!

Hoppity, since you're in toledo you're only about 50 miles from Taylor Mi reptile show, they have one every second saturday of the month. I went this month and they had a ton of frogs, you should definitely check it out.. it's pretty much like going to a reptile zoo but you get to buy the stuff you see if you want it.

I warn you though, money will burn a hole in your pocket extra fast there.. There is also a lot of feeder items like hornworms, roaches.. stuff like that, excellent deals on crickets.

Oh, thanks! I'll find it on a map. I'm glad you warned me about money, its just like me to go there and want alot of stuff. I bought some indoor outdoor carpet at Lowe's today, cut it to piece I wanted then soaked it. Internet says its ok for reptiles (but they show a picture of it dry) and mine will get wet. I hope its safe, the reptile carpet at the store costs more than what I paid for mine! So, until I know for sure, I'll use smooth rocks. Thanks for the info about this show! I could ship to uk but it cost a lot to ship and export. If someone were buying 100 frogs then the shipping & export cost would be worth it.

Mike, my male fantasy has the dark chin trait. Like a male cranwelli, but nearly solid dark brown/black like one of his parent cornutas .
