Just wanted to share a few pics of the 65 gallon. Got it a few weeks ago. It was 100% free. I transfered my sponge filters, 6 frogs , and huge clump of elodia over.
My computer is being a piece so I had to do this in 2 posts.
Awesome! I'm surprised that little albino hasn't become food for those huge frogs you have there.
very cool. i love the pipe caves. i would never have thought of that. and you gotta love free stuff. i don't remember the last time i paid for a tank......lol

That is Carl the reticulated albino male. If he wasn't I probably would have moved him along. I got tired of waiting for him to growout and combined all of my frogs several months ago. He is fearless though and there has been no near misses. He is quite the gentleman when hand feeding also.
I wonder why some frogs just don't 'grow' I have a frog that I'm also hoping would catch up already (it's younger and all my frogs are under 1 year old..)! Heck even my male albino seems to be growing faster than what I believe is a wild type female (my albino male has nuptial pads but he's not frisky.. the other frog is roughly the same age but no pads so I assume it's a female???).
Well I did my best to take pictures.. my frogs are extremely spoiled and they are glued to me when I come near their tank because they're always hungry.. these are terrible cell phone pics and probably not helpful I will try again tomorrow. I bought the albino was a tiny froglet in mid-May and the pigmented frog in early june also as a tiny froglet.
pic 1-dude's foot in the way
pic 2- wrong angle, but looks female
pic 3- too dark
I know. My frogs are not photogenic nor are they cooperating with me tonight! I believe it is a female though, she seems hungrier and a tad more aggressive than the other two -- just a bigger appetite overall. I do like my albino a lot though he is more inquisitive and curious about what's going on around him -- he seems to always swim up and want to say hello when I come near the tank, he has a great personality.
How effective are sponge filters vs HOB and canisters, Tony?
VS HOB-
sponge is cheaper to buy and maintain
sponge is WAY quieter especially with the lowered water levels
sponge does not need as much maintenance as a hob
sponge is a superior biofilter to the typical hob
VS Canister
Sponge is cheaper
sponge is easier to maintain and operate
no heavy flow with sponge, but still has adequate circulation and contact with bio media
no strainers to be clogged with the sponge
The obvious disadvantage to the sponge is the look of it. I don't mind it though and my frogs could care less. Bang for the buck you can not beat it. Even an idiot can run them. No expensive parts or cartridges to keep replacing. Seems like my canisters always had some part that broke and needed replaced and was never cheap.
Indeed quite strange that the little one doesn´t get eaten by the big ones. He is an albino and not a reticulated as far as I can see.

I thought that too. I would be sweating bullets every day! That little albino is completely in the danger zone of being eaten by the larger females.
It's cool that they don't eat him, just very surprising. Hopefully he will grow before those larger ACF change their minds!!
Definitely reticulated. =]
As far as him being eaten I too am surprised he has made it and is quite bold and disregarded as food by the big frogs. That being said I was no longer willing to maintain a seperate set up for just him. At the point when He and the little albino female were added to "general pop" my feelings were eat or be eaten. If I loose him, it is what it is.
How old is Carl? I have a frog that doesn't seem to be growing much either and it's frustrating.
