That frog isint looking good it looks to me to be more than a cricket bite ... and another thing frogs DONT drink water from there mouths i suggest you give the frog to someone who can take care of it... kuz to me it seems like you have no idea what your doing and after reading all thees posts its looking bad for that poor frog ....
Locasio, of course it is more then cricket bite, it is infected. you should should stop that. thyme is seeking for advice and help that is what he should be getting, not pointing fingers, no need to be so rude. yes frogs don't drink like we do, they absorb water though their skin, not everybody know that, that is what the forum is for to ask questions and seek information.
I'm sure s/he can take care of the frog and is trying to help him now, s/he wrote that the wound is looking better now, we all started somewhere and had probably stupidest questions then, so relax and if you can help please do so.
Save one animal and it doesn't change the world, but it surely changes the world for that one animal!
Sorry but I'm only trying to do my best. He is sitting in his bowl a lot more now with eyes open more.
Hopefully a good sign.
How long has it been since the frog has eaten? Does it look like it is losing weight? If it's been over a week, you may want to do an 'aggravated' feeding. If he won't take prey on his own, you can rub the prey over the frogs lips and chin for a few minutes. Usually they will get annoyed and bite it. This is less stressful than actually force-feeding.
Post some more pictures of the bite area and the whole frog please.
When you say he is 'gulping' water do you mean he is sitting in his water dish and opening his mouth over and over? If this is something you've only seen him do once, he may have just been shedding in the water dish. They gulp air to puff up and loosen the skin.
Sitting with the eyes closed all the time isn't a good sign. You can try feeling VERY gently around the bite area. Do you feel any hard knots or swelling? Without a picture this is just a guess, but sometimes a wound can heal up and leave a sort of encysted infection under the skin. I've seen this in other animals (especially cats) that receive bite wounds that don't get immediately cleaned out. This can either lead to another infection in the same area (the pus trying to escape and reopening the wound), or the infection going through the body.
Is there an exotics vet you can get to? If the infection is spreading beyond just the bite this may be beyond what you can treat at home. With infections, the sooner you can get them treated the better.
He ate a cricket off the tongs just now.
He gets in and out alone. Also maybe he did shed as he looks brighter now.
I don't have anything constructive to add, but wanted to say keep up the good work!!! Many people look at frogs at throw away pets and won't take the time or spend the money to care for them when they are ill or injured. Kudos for you for getting help and acing on it!
Well this guy means a lot to me and you guys have helped a lot with bringing him back to health. hopefully, his condition will continue to improve. i will post some updates when i get them!
Tryme, do you have any new photos of the wound? I'm glad he's eating for you. Continue to feed him every night. He will need the protein from the food to heal the wound. They can and do recover if we provide proper care.

I'm sorry for your loss. Sometimes they seem like they're just fine and going to recover and then they suddenly pass. I wish there were more that could have been done, but you did your best and that's what matters.
