Yes and yes. Make sure you buy safe worms too, meaning the don't have any chemicals or dye. I've heard that Wal-Mart worms are safe. I've personally never bought from there though. Petsmart and Petco sell them as well I believe, they are just expensive. I don't think you'll have that hard of a time finding them. Just make sure they don't smell or look funky and you should be OK.
