I was so excited tonight when the fecal samples for Olive and Skitter came back negative. I have been waiting 1 1/2 months to put house my three together. After losing Fiona, Shrek became less active and would just sit in his tank occasionally watching the other two in their tank.
I got home and put Olive and Skitter into Shrek's tank. Everything was okay at first. I put two feeding bowls in and right away Shrek went to one and Olive to the other. Skitter went to Shrek's bowl and ended up getting one cricket. I felt bad and gave more crickets, this time Skitter ate out of Olive's bowl and was able to get about 4 crickets.
After dinner, Shrek grabbed Olive by his side and flipped him into the water bowl, where he stayed for about 1/2 hour. He nipped a few times at Skitter too but Skitter has been unfazed. Olive is now climbing and exploring his new home, but he's trying to find a way to climb out of it! His other tank was 2 inches shorter than the new one and he never tried to escape! Shrek so far is leaving him be but keeping an eye on him from a distance.
I know that Shrek needs to establish that she is boss right now. Can she seriously hurt him? Do I need to be this worried about it? I almost don't want to go to sleep tonight so I can make sure they are all okay! I weighed them all last night Shrek is 12 grams, Olive is 10 grams and Skitter is 9 grams so they are all close enough in size.

Wow it seems like you really care for your frogs. This story makes me sad. I didnt know white tree frogs developed bonds. And there is a dominancy order? I hope they get along and become friends.
Honestly this post makes me sad
because first it is a sad story and second you care so much for them i feel the empathy
Don't be sad, after this first incident they are all getting along just great
They all have their little sleeping areas that they favor and when they wake up they all go to the food bowls and sit together and wait. Skitter has actually shown the most dominance (I actually think he is definitely my male) but he does little things like sitting on top of the other frogs, moving in front of the other frogs when I get close to the tank, and even pushes them away from the food bowl when he's really hungry. Skitter is the smallest of the 3. Feeding time gets crazy sometimes and sometimes someone will get a foot in their mouth or a head in their mouth but it's just because they get so excited when those crickets fall into the bowls! They are doing really good, they have lots of space to climb around and get away from each other but most of the time they like to know what the others are doing!

Your frogs are awesome, Quick question for you i have herd of people getting fecal exams for there frogs is it expensive?
If you can get a fecal exam without the vet needing to see the frog it should be about $40. Vets may want to see the frog before they give medicine because they need to know the size of the frog in order to get the dosage right. I got lucky with Olive and Skitter because Shrek was already being treated for parasites and I had to bring his samples in to be tested and they told me I could bring samples from all the frogs. I weighed Skitter and Olive before hand so he was willing to give me the the medicine without seeing them.

I had no idea that frogs show dominance and form bonds with each other! I mean, it makes sense, but that's really interesting.
