Question What should the staple diet of White's Tree frog consist of?

I have a semi-adult white's tree frog (about 2 years old), and I want to make sure I have the right diet. I have a breeding project for mealworms (2 leos), so that would be easier than crickets. What would be a good staple diet?

Crickets and roaches are on our menu around here! Mealworms are a no no, not a very well balanced meal for them and the exoskeleton is hard for them to digest (can cause impaction).

If you are a breeding mealworms...try roaches. To each their own, but I raise mealworms at work and I couldn't be happier with raising roaches. Soooooo much easier then all the rest.

Definitely try breeding roaches. They're super easy to keep and they don't smell terrible like crickets do. And they're much more nutritious than crickets and meal worms. The best part about breeding roaches is that you're almost guaranteed to have the perfect size for your frog.

LOL! As you should be! hahahahaha!!!!

I also raise hissers, but they are so much harder to feed to my white's. (Hissers climb glass and escape the bowl!) My Grey Tree frogs eat out of my hands, so the baby hissers go to them.

Dubias are great and they multiply fast. So easy to care for and they definitely don't smell like stinky crickets .

I never understood why so many people (women in particular) find roaches gross. I think they're really cool. I was hooked after seeing my first one a few months ago. In fact, after my pacman frog died I kept my very small colony still just because I liked them LOL.

I totally agree. I HATE crickets. I only have a few Dubia's though so they aren't breeding. It's impossible to find them around here and they're so expensive online. I'll just keep hitting expos until I find some!

I bought 150 last year and just sold 150 and gave away another 200+. I still have about 300-400. All I do is feed them fresh fruit, carrots and zucchini, gel water and Cheerios. I have their heat at about 90'F on one end of their tank. So easy.

Lol!!!!! Yep, Cheerios! They love them. They pick them up and carry them away with them. It's funny. They can take down 5 cups of them easily in a week. They like cat food too .

I feed really high end grain-free cat food to my cats so when it gets down to the bottom of the bin I can't justify throwing away all the powder and crumbs so I keep it for my roaches. They love it! I also like to feed them all natural apple sauce, which they will eat completely overnight.

I like crickets over mealworms. In my opinion.
