Red face Frog condition after shipping

Hi FBT owners, I just have a question for anyone having similar experience. I ordered 2 FB's and they came in today. I brought them home, both are thinner than my original 2. One has eaten plenty, other has eaten but he is thinner, was in shock I guess after being shipped then coming here, he acted a little dazed by new sourroundings instead of being on a truck. I offered him two worms, he ate 1 and is thinking. I do not know what he is thinking about, but he looks like he needs to eat! Other 3 are eating and hopping around. This guy swims and seems alert like the rest but I can't figure out why he did not want second worm. Yes, I dangled it in front of him and it was right by his nose. I don't know if this is normal or not for a newbie frog. Any advice? Thanks

I'm surprised they ate for you at all! Usually it takes a couple days for them to settle in and start eating. I hope you are quarantining the new toads for a while to make sure they don't introduce any illnesses to the enclosure.

Well, they were allowed to adjust for a while and I figured they were hungry, they were! All get along and I ran out of containers and tanks to quarantine. I don't like to know that diseases are possible either. Hope mine are ok. The newbies were ordered and came from different store. I don't even know how these creatures survive shipping! I can write with an update, too. Frogs sure are cute and easy to care for. Still have my fish tank, dogs, stray cat, possum and buddies, oh and hermits. I'm a busy girl here.

They will probably be fine, I just like to be safe. I am glad they are doing well so far and I would like updates if you don't mind and I love pics! You have a possum? I love possums! I think they are cute

Oh, thanks! I'd love to send pic's, the trouble is I have never been shown how to do it. I offered frogs an earthworm. They were not sure what to do with it. One finally tried to get it but he did not manage, and if they don't get it the first or second time, they give up. They had wax worms earlier. I am watching the skinny one and will check him early tomorrow. I want to get crickets tomorrow. No, I don't mind updates. Yep, we have a big and small possum duo. The smaller one waits for dinner and looks in window by front door. They know I'll come out. I feed a few stray cats, too. Possums have a face that I just can't get used to, its that look in their eyes. It reminds me of a girl in my dr's office, she looks the same! laughing.. but, yeah I'm into animals. I can write later and wish me luck my skinny guy gets hungry!

Have you tried cutting the worm up into 1" sections? That worked for me. My FBTs don't take worms at all anymore though which sucks because they are more nutritious than crickets. Waxworms will be good for putting some weight on the skinny one. They are just not very nutritious. Butterworms are good too for putting weight on. They also have a lot of calcium in them. I hope your little guy eats for you tomorrow!

Yep, I did that and the earthworm did not wiggle long enough, frog did not see it. The frogs are fast but sometimes not fast enough. I checked them all just now, he is happily in water with other 3. I can write with updates. Thanks for caring, I put more time into my pets than you can imagine. I get more joy from them than family members. Long story. I can get more worms today and some crickets. Now how they digest crickets, I do not know. I am very glad you wrote. Thanks!

i get mine to eat worms by rubbing the end of the worm on the lower lip
they will reflexively open the mouth and eat the worm

I tried this, too. Sometimes it works and sometimes they just aren't hungry.
