wow....i am sure that is a LOT of emails....lol have you written anything about Mantellas? i am building a home for either M. Betsileo or M. Baroni. and while i have read quite extensively about both species, more information is always appreciated. anything i can do to make a better home for them.

Yes, Thousands of comments over the years, but I've been focusing on writing articles and books since retiring from the Bx Zoo and I enjoy the work. Not too much on Mantells, need to get to that; one of the articles is a short Mantella overview; mentions an interesting fact re betsileo/. Other is on poison frogs, but many of the considerations, esp. the notes re providing a varied diet, apply. Good luck with the project, let me know how it goes, Best, Frank

The Green/Avocado colored ones are called Ecuadorian's... I use to have one named Mighty Moe that I loved to pieces! He was tinier then my pinky but had the biggest personality. I sadly lost him to a molt gone wrong about a year ago. I currently don't have any but would love some in the future! HERMIT-CRABS.COM.... That website helped me out alot with naming my species of Hermit! I Hope it's useful

I had the same experience and the green crabs I had were my favorite kind. Our stores don't always have them. They don't seem as hearty as the common purple pincher type. I have 4 purple crabs now, had them for years. They sure don't grow fast which surprises me because mine get people food with crab food. I have bigger shells they won't go in but play with. They are the easiest pet I've ever had. Mine are in a tank with humidity, especially in the winter. Thanks for the website you sent. I will check it out.
