Questions about Pacman care.

I just got a young Pacman. I want to tong feed him so I can make sure he is eating and how much. Right now I sit him in a Tupperware container on damp paper towel and kinda wiggle the worm in front of him. I do this for quite a while but he will not eat. What should I do to teach him to eat out of the tongs? I currently keep him in a 10 gal tank with Eco earth. I have been told by some that is good but I have also been told keeping them on wet paper towels with a hide is better. This is my first Pacman so I need some info. I just want him to have the best set-up possible to live and grow up in. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Please read the Pacman care sheet. It should help you with some of your questons. Often times it is better to keep the babies in a smaller enclosure and then move them to the 10 gallon when they get bigger. Sometimes large spaces make them stressed. Also, the larger the space the harder it is for them to catch their food. Although if you can get him/her to tong feed that shouldn't be a problem. What sized worms are you feeding him? Are you using a vitamin supplement and calcium powder with D3? Are you de-chlorinating the water?

Some frogs will take from tongs immediately, some take longer to learn, and others refuse to eat from tongs. It varies from frog to frog. Try offering different food items. If it is something they really like, they will be more likely to take the food from tongs. I also find it helpful to offer food from tongs first; if they won't accept it, I drop the food in front of them with the tongs. Eventually they make the connection that tongs bring food.

Also, coco fiber is the most commonly used substrate. Some people prefer to keep them on paper towels for ease of cleaning and to display the animal better, but I prefer using coco fiber.
