Default What Tree Frog is this?

May 30th 2012, I went out on my front porch to find a gorgeous green Tree Frog on my front porch, I caught it and brought it in. I asked a few people what it was and was told that it was a Barking Tree Frog aka Hyla Gratiosa. Now I've had this frog for 5 months now and to my understanding Barking Tree Frogs get spots on their backs. Well this guy does not, he has a few yellow patches but nothing that looks like the photos of the Barking Tree Frogs I've looked up. Is Verde a Barking Tree Frog or a different Tree Frog?

And very tame! When I try to put him down after holding him he won't let go, it's like he's saying "no no leave me I'm happy on your finger" lol

From the descriptions I've read I don't think the spots are mandatory, just extremely likely. They are also known to hybridize with American Green Treefrogs, Hyla cinerea, so you can get some in-betweeners.

Here's a list of frogs in your area that might help Frogs and Toads of Virginia

The fatness of yours makes the Barking treefrog look most likely to me, but I don't really have any first hand experience with most of your natives.

As to the 'clingy' behavior, I've always taken this to mean- "I'm not currently being eaten, so I'm going to try to stay attached to this pink fleshy thing, cuz it could get worse". It seems to be a standard defense mechanism of all the wild Gray Treefrogs I've had to move from various dangerous locations (in front of lawn mowers, about to be squished in window frames, etc.). I don't take it as a sign of them being comfortable with me.

I've taken my two Hyla Cinerea's outside and have sat in a chair with both on my fingers, neither even attempted to jump off to freedom. In fact, one jumped on my shirt and just stayed there while the other walked up my hand to my wrist
