    Default Caatinga Growth Rates

    Hey everyone!

Got a question for the seasoned caatinga keepers out there. I was just wondering if caatinga females grow quicker than the males? I know this is usually the case with C. cranwelli, but I haven't been seeing this with my group of 5. I have one male who is now mature and calls frequently (love the sound, definitely lower than the 2 cranwelli males he's competing with) and is bigger than the rest of the frogs. Three of them are close to him in size and don't seem to be developing nuptial pads or getting a loose throat, but if they were females wouldn't they be growing faster? I thought they were all from the same clutch but maybe the male is older than the rest, what do you guys think?

All of mine have had the same growth rate. They should all be sexable by 7 months and breeding by 12 months. I have not been able to sex any of mine except the two I kept back from march and they look to be females.

Thanks Mike, good to know that they are all growing normally. I got them back in the beginning of Sept. at the Vegas expo, so I guess I still have a few months to go to sex the females for sure.

Growth rates tend to vary with this species. My male hit 3" in 1 month and it took my female 3 months to reach 4" so its kind of a toss up. These came from Mike's group too so a lot of it has to do with what you're feeding them and how often. About the same as Cranwelli and Ornata. Mike has you covered on the rest.
