That growth sounds about right. I got my guy mid July around that size and he's about 6" now. I don't think he's stunted
What kind of feeder fish are you using? Guppies are acceptable, however feeder goldfish are fatty and can harbor nasty parasites.

Im not gonna lie, it was goldfish. Its a habit I have to get out of. What makes CB goldfish more prone to parasites than CB minnows?

Its not just parasites. Its all the antibiotics and the chemical that makes goldfish gold. The chemical that makes the fish gold is toxic in large quantities and may build up in the frog's system over time.

Im not really following...goldfish arent naturally gold? Or less gold then after treatment? Surely they arent doing this with feeder fish, but has it almost got to the point of artificial selection where it is carried down thru generations?

Or is this a naturally occuring chemical somehow?

Lol! Sorry, I should have been more specific. Its a natural chemical produced by the fish.

Save one animal and it doesn't change the world, but it surely changes the world for that one animal!

Yes it was shawnessy petland. Which kind of confuses me because two seperate people told me they got it mid july. I went there last around end of june/start of july and I never saw a Pixie there. I wonder if it could be a different Pixie? Or if he was returned? Hopefully not.

If it is somehow the same Pixie that would also mean pretty poor growth, in which case I hope stunted growth is indeed correctable.

Goldfish are definitely not gold because of a chemical...

There is a chemical thats produced naturally in them called Thiaminase.

"Goldfish carry the chemical thiaminase, so if goldfish are fed to other animals as Feeder Fish, then that carnivore may develop a serious vitamin B1 deficiency."

This quote was taken from this wiki page,

Yes, but thiaminase has zero coloration to the gold color, which is a product of artificial selection. Many fish contain thiaminase.

I read somewhere that the chemical was related to their color but then again I'm not a fish guy . That chemical is dangerous to the frogs and Goldfish contain more of it than most other fish.

    Hi Graham
Any updated pics? Are his eyes grey or are they still brown black and goldish? Id say thats an older frog 1yr+ based on the photos. Any mottling of the skin left? Id lean male based on coloring and snout, but has a narrow head for me to be 100% sure on sex. Any bellowing/croaking?

No fish, and sparingly on the mice/other high fat prey.

Really nice looking frog either way. congrats!!

Here is the only new pic I have so far

    http://www.frogforum.net/african-bul...ant-pixie.html

No croaks yet but I keep my frogs in a separate heated room in the basement. Only time I see them or would hear them in during feeding and a few times a day for misting and viewing. Lija who has also been to the pet store I bought it at confirmed that it was maybe 3 inches around may. So maybe born march? The frog is currently just over 5.5 inches.
