Hey dudes and dudettes!
My name is Cory and I'm new to the forum. Just scooped up my very first fantasy pacman as well. My pacmans name is Grux and would be considered a juvenile at this point I'd say. probably one of the coolest pets I've ever had. I picked him up a few days ago and to my surprise brought him home introduced him to his pad and he even ate 2 earthworms for me. I did a lot of reading prior to getting him and his pad consists of a 10 gal tank 2 fake plants a water dish coco fiber substrate hydro/temp gauges and a 10-20 gal heating pad attached to the back of the tank. The only problem I'm running into so far seems to be the tank temps. During the day it's coming up to 70 and at night it's going to 65. I thought that do to the screen top perhaps it was letting the heat right out. So I laid an old tee across 3quarters of the lid which seem to help a minimal amount figuring it would help contain the heat. Right now in PA it's relatively cold outside temps in the low 30's a majority of the time and my house is kept at 70. He spends a majority of his time on the dryer half of the tank closer to the back where the heating pad is. I figure if he is eating for me he can't be to bother by the slightly lower temps. Anyone with suggestions or comments let me know! And thanks guys for having me in the forum it's much appreciated as the members here are very knowledgable!

Welcome to the forum! Good to see another PA person here.
Hi Cory, welcome to the forum.
You'll need to get that temp up to 80 to 82 degrees for proper digestion. The easiest thing to do is purchase a heat lamp with a dimmer and get a 50watt infared bulb. Place it on the screen top on the same half of the tank as the heat pad. What you'll be achieving is a warm side of the tank and a cool side. The water/soaking bowl should be on the cool side. Cover the other half of the screen lid with Saran Wrap or foil. Be sure to get a hygrometer. They need humidity of 80%. In the winter months with the heat lamp on you may have to mist the tank more often, but at least 2x/day. Place the hygrometer about an inch above the substrate line for accuracy of the humidity at the frogs level. Be sure to only use dechlorinated water or spring water and don't forget your calcium/vita D3 and multivitamin.
P.S. I'm a Pennsylvanian also.

Hey heather I appr your reply. I actually have everything from the hydrometer to the bowl to the multi vitamin and calcium. Actually the only thing I'm missing is the heat lamp. I was under the assumption the light was bad for them as it dries them out but ill be going out to snag one Tom. As I don't want little grux to have any problems due to my error. I'm hoping the local pet place has them. Thanks again.
Great! You're welcome. It's tough to keep the humidity up with the heat bulbs, but they need to be warmer. The red light spectrum doesn't seem to bother them. If you can get a ceramic heat emitter bulb in 50watt, that would work too.
